Once seen as secondary players to major brands like Samsung and Apple (to name a couple), the continued rise of companies like Oppo have been incredible to witness, thanks to highly-impressive hardware that has taken several markets outside North America by storm.

With that in mind, Oppo is hoping to ride on this continued success with the launch of the new Find X8 Ultra, another entry in its Find X8 series of devices. Oppo claims that the X8 ultra is its slimmest camera smartphone yet, with a thickness measuring at just 8.8 mm. Don’t let its thin design fool you though, as Oppo has packed a ton of impressive hardware inside.
Let’s start with the camera, which is probably the most obvious hardware component on the phone (aside from the screen). There’s a quad-camera system which features 50MP sensors all over, including a main 1-inch sensor with f/1.8 aperture, dual pixel PDAF, and OIS. There are also two periscope telephoto lenses, one of which comes with 3x optical zoom with 6x optical zoom on the secondary one, and an ultra-wide lens in the mix as well.
This formidable hardware setup does come with Hasselblad color calibration, support for 4K video recording at a maximum of 120fps and 1080p video at 240fps, as well as HDR and 10-bit video. In front, you’re getting a 32MP selfie camera with PDAF.
In front is a large LTPO AMOLED display with a 1440 x 3168 pixel resolution, and it comes with decent brightness levels at 1,600 nits, and 2,500 nits at peak brightness. It’s also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, while the entirety of the phone comes with a IP69 rating against dust and water.
Powering the phone is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, which comes with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. For software, you’re getting ColorOS 15 on top of Android 15, so this means access to some exclusive apps from Oppo in addition to Google services and AI features. There’s also a 6,100 mAh silicon carbon battery, which supports charging at up to 100W wired and 50W wireless.
