Battery life on our smartphones are still horrendous. Good luck trying to get your phone to last you longer than a day. But it seems that won’t stop Samsung from trying. A report from GalaxyClub.nl has revealed that Samsung could increase the battery capacity in the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Samsung will use two batteries for the Flip 7 which gives it a combined rated capacity of 4,174mAh. This will probably be marketed as a 4,300mAh battery. For comparison, the Galaxy Z Flip 6, which comes with a 4,000mAh battery, is already a solid choice for foldable fans (check it out here). This means that the Flip 7 will have 300mAh more juice than its predecessor.
This is an interesting rumor and could also speak to how Samsung is prioritizing its foldables. For instance, a recent rumor claims that Samsung won’t give the Fold 7 a larger battery. Instead, it is stuck at 4,400mAh similar to its predecessors. This also means that the battery in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is closer to the Fold 7’s batteries than ever before.
Samsung’s Flip series has been a more popular alternative to the Fold series. It is more compact, which might be favorable to users who don’t have a need for a tablet. It is also half the price of the Fold series, making it more accessible to customers who just want a foldable phone.
We can’t speak to exactly how much longer a larger 4,300mAh battery will last compared to a 4,000mAh battery, but if it’s an upgrade, we’re all for it.
That said, if you’re looking for one of the best foldables available today, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 still delivers great battery life, a sleek compact design, and powerful specs at a more accessible price point.
