Technically speaking, smartphones can be used by anyone regardless of age. However, we’ve seen some phones created specifically for the elderly. This includes features like UI with larger fonts, icons, and buttons. Now the folks over at HMD have partnered with Xplora to create the Fusion X1, a smartphone designed with teens in mind.
So, what makes the Fusion X1 a smartphone for teens? Basically, this is a phone that features a UI that is supposed to help teens create healthier digital habits along with built-in arental controls. For instance, the phone lacks support for social media and the internet—parents will have to enable these features. It also boasts continuous tracking at 20 second intervals, emergency SOS calling, low battery alerts, and remote device access.
There’s also a School Mode that makes sure your kids are actually studying and paying attention instead of focusing on their phones. However, all of this comes at a cost, and we’re not talking about the phone’s price. Parents will need to pay €4.99 per month if they want to take advantage of these features from Xplora.
As for its specs, the Fusion X1 features a 6.56-inch HD+ display with a 90 Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, we can find the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 with 6/8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of expandable storage. There is a dual 108MP + 2MP camera setup on the back and a 50MP camera on the front. It packs a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W charging and comes with Android 14.
