Huawei might not have been the first to the market with a foldable phone, but they were the first to launch a tri-fold phone. Since then, we’ve heard rumors that other companies, such as Samsung, could have similar plans of their own. Now we can add another company to that list—Infinix. According to an Infinix press release, the company has teased its own tri-fold smartphone ahead of MWC 2025.
Now, before you get too excited, we need to clarify that Infinix isn’t necessarily working on its own tri-fold device. Instead, the press release is more about showing off the company’s concept and take on such a device, which they’re calling the Infinix ZERO Series Mini Tri-Fold Concept Device.
From the renders, it looks like this is a different take on tri-fold phones compared to Huawei and Samsung. Instead of a book-style foldable, Infinix has opted for a tri-fold clamshell. This means that it will be smaller and more compact compared to book-style foldables. The company imagines this device potentially doubling as an action camera that can be clipped onto a bag or a bike for the FPV perspective.
The tri-fold design also means that users have more options when it comes to its form factor. Instead of just open and close, users can opt to have one of the displays folded down, or both, to create an even more compact device.
Will Infinix actually release such a device? That remains to be seen. The company is no stranger when it comes to foldables, but hopefully, we’ll learn more about their plans at MWC 2025.
