Over the years, Google’s Gmail has evolved as an email platform. While it still functions as an email platform, Google has introduced various quality of life improvements and changes to make it more functional. The latest update to the Gmail app now allows users to pay their bills directly from the app itself.
According to Google’s announcement, “Following last month’s announcement of event summary cards, we’re excited to introduce updated summary cards that enable you to view and pay bills, or set a reminder to pay later using Google Tasks.”
Basically, whenever you receive a new bill, it will show users new summary cards where they can choose to “Pay bill”, “View bill”, or “Remind me”. The first two options are pretty straightforward. However, users who don’t want to pay their bills immediately can click the “Remind me” option.
This will create a reminder in Google Tasks so that users can be reminded about their bill later on to avoid any late fees or penalties. Google is also introducing a “Happening Soon” summary card that will sit at the top of your inbox. This will show users all their current summary cards and dates.
This update is available on both the iOS and Android versions of the app, so make sure you’ve updated it to the latest version if you’d like to check it out.
